- Airfare to New Delhi (DEL). The cost of this tour does NOT include airfare. A minimum of 10 people are required to receive an airline group rate. I am happy to organize this if there are enough people interested. Normally this saves 10% of the flight cost. However, everyone would need to depart/return from the same city. By arranging your own flight you have options, including using miles or a combination of miles to arrange your own flight. For best rates you may check www.kayak.com Let me know if you need assistance in searching best rates for your flight.
Arrange your flight to arrive in DEL no later than January 16. If you decide to arrive earlier or extend your stay, please inquire for additional night costs. - Any meals other than those mentioned above. Food is relatively inexpensive in India. There are gluten-free, vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. The area where we are traveling, known as the Golden Triangle, is known for its delicious cuisine–whether in a fIne restaurant, chai shop or from the streetside…DELICIOUS!
- Any tips for drivers or charities/offerings at temples. Any portage at airports and hotels, insurance, wine, telephone charges and all items of personal nature.
- Your own shopping: I will take you to a gem factory, and shopping that will include specialties of India: silks, cottons, jewelry, art, marble, musical instruments, etc. Though most places do take Visa and MC–few places take AMX. If you are buying from a street vendor–they only take rupees/cash.
- Expenses caused by factors beyond our control.
In mid-November I will send an email to all travelers with Mandara’s Travel Tips. This will include health tips to prepare for an overseas trip and how to not get sick in a foreign country. What to wear, what to take, and what not to take. And much more!
Health:
You should be in reasonably good health to make this trip.
Insurance:
It is recommended you buy trip insurance.
Below is information from Clark Howard, consumer advocate on trip insurance:
What kind of coverage does it offer?
Policies are designed to protect consumers by giving them refunds in the event of illness to the traveler or immediate family member, or to provide a refund in the case of company, tour operator or airline default.
How much does it cost?
Policies cost about 5% of total cost of a trip, but it’s worth it. Consumers should always purchase a policy independent of the cruise, tour or vacation planner. Never purchase the trip protection plan from the trip organizer. They are designed to protect only the company and not the consumer. Always pay deposits and final payments by a real credit card and never by debit card or check.
